Family Work Hours Obligation Policy
Operating a community non-profit community aquatics club is a labor intensive
endeavor and our team is dependent on parental support for its continued
success. SOLO Aquatics team families of older athletes are expected to fulfill an annual
Family Work Hours Obligation of at least 20 work hours during the swim
year which runs from September through August, and 10 hours for younger athletes. For Age Group, Advanced Age Group, Pre-Senior, Senior, and Water Polo athletes the hourly service requirement is 5 hours per session. For Racers and Dynamos, the hourly service requirement is 2.5 hours per session. The hourly commitment, for example, for Advanced Age Group swimmers for Sessions 1 and 2 would be 10 hours; for Racers--Session 2, would be 2.5 hours. Work Hours are a requirement to
be a team member.
Families sign-up for team jobs and/or for meet/clinic jobs on specific
dates. SOLO swimming hosts three major swim meets each year and water
polo hosts clinics and tournaments. Success in conducting these events is dependent on family participation. In addition to working at these meets,
SOLO is almost always assigned a timing lane at meets that our swimmers
attend. Parents attending these meets have the opportunity to earn volunteer
hours as well.
We want to motivate families of athletes to participate in the organization by the giving of your time to our programs; however, if this does not fit into your particular family schedule, you may wish to “opt out” of this obligation either in part or in full, at a fee of $15.00 per service hour for each required hour unfulfilled. Each family will be invoiced separately for these hours, following the completion of each session. If you have any questions regarding the program’s family work hour obligation, the available opportunities for fulfillment, the documentation of these hours, or other inquiries, please email us at solohours@yahoo.com. Thank you for making Solo Aquatics one of the Bay Area’s most professional and rewarding aquatics programs.
